My MInd Has a Part 2

Earlier this week I posted a blog of two topics that were on my mind...

I had a feeling was leaving something out and that would be #3...

3.   This Darn NFL Lockout!

Back at the end of the NFL season the stupid NFL moved into this "Lockout" mumbo jumbo.  I mentioned it to a few people that I found this to be a giant waist of crap news.  Here is why...  If I remember right almost every darn year at the end of EVERY sport season there is some sort of strike or lockout.  Mostly they want money is the underlining theme but they usually cover that up with some sort of other bull crap.  

So there I was talking to a friend and I said, "mark my words the NFL lockout will come to an end right before the training and preseason kicks off."  Boy I need to be paid for my predictions.  There I was this last week in the gym locker room and on EPSN they were talking about they players were being allowed back into the locker rooms now as training season begins as long as they got their physicals.  Huh ironic.  Pre season is just weeks away and the "lockout" sounds like it is vanishing away.  

Just be honest and say you are giving your players more money for the next season.  I believe they just use the "Lockout" also as a cover up to make it so much easier for us to accept the fact they are going to once again get pay raises and they deserve it.  We wouldn't easily accept a raise if they just gave it to them.  This is just further proof that the majority of America is blind and can't think on their own.  

(Once again this is just my thoughts and opinions if you did not like this post then you really should... I don't know, but you should do something.)

I Am Here

As much as I love blogging it sure sometimes feels like a job.

2011 A Grand Start

Besides loosing my bartending job this week due to Ruby Tuesday closing all it's franchise locations I am having a FANTASTIC 2011!  I'm sure it will get better but I would like to see it try!

My photography business, ARG IMAG Photography, is growing, and my personal life has taken a huge jolt of "I didn't see that coming but I love it!"

I have been gone from the blog world for a minute.  I know, I know "The Horror!"  I could tell you that I have been busy which is yes very true as I have had family photo shoots and also a wedding shoot in Vegas, along with bartending and table waiting but that would be a lie if I used just "being busy."  I have had no desire to sit down and blog simply put.  I have been a blog party crapper.  Maybe it has to do with the fact I am running 3 blogs (or attempting) with one being ARG IMAG Photography, the business blog.  Whatever reason may be I have taken a blog hiatus but am back now.

I've begun compiling the listing of all the music mentioned at the start and finish of blog posts from this year.  That playlist will be available to view come January 1, 2011. (1/1/11)

St. George this week has flooded.  Not as bad I guess damage wise as the 2005 flood.  HOWEVER I have just one irritation with the hype around it.  Some of you may have seen this remark as my Facebook status but I must explain.  I HATE when people make reference to floods as a "common occurrence."  Unless you have factual evidence I don't want to hear the phrase, "oh this is a 100 (90, 75 etc) year flood.  Simply put I don't think weather truly has a pattern like the human race does.  I think the simplicity of my brother backing the toilet up has more of a pattern and can be called one than flooding does.  I had someone this week tell me that the flood of 2005 (which I didn't live here then) was a 100 year flood and the one of this week was a 90 year flood.  I won't lie, I laughed in their face and called them out.  Not nice but had to be done.  -The end of my flood rant-

December has been a busy Sin City Roller Girls month.  Nicole is also back from her master program in N.C. so we have attended most of the events.  I did the Twitter feed once again for the team during their bout this month.  We also attended yet another roller disco event they hosted.  They moved it from the Rain nightclub at the Palms to The Joint at Hard Rock.  Not as fun I will admit but it was a good time.  I opted to not skate it up and took some sweet photos.  I will be posting them tonight along with my photo's from the H&M opening at the Forum Shop.  That opening blew my mind!

Last night we had a rockin rain storm bust it's way through St. George. I'm not talking cat's and dog's rain, I'm talking small children from 3rd world countries were dropping on our lands. It was insane! Not to mention the lighting that came with it was amazing. I have NEVER seen lightning completely surround and entire town. I mean it was ALL around, usually it stays in a central area but not last night.

Anyways.

I was called by my Elders Quorum President as I was leaving work to show up for a meeting. I agreed, even though I am still having a hard time with this ward. Upon my drive there I found a parking spot right up front of the institute building, which was nice as I didn't have to run in the rain very far and look like a wet llama. The meeting was interesting and I left. Upon returning to my car I sat there and spoke to a friend on the phone right there in my car not leaving my parking spot. A few minutes into my conversation I watched two guys walk up to different sides of the car next to me. Obviously they belonged to it. I'll have you know what took place next SHOCKS me!!!

I was parked in my lane and not in any other lane. So I was perfectly legal in my parking. I'm there talking to my friend and all of a sudden the guy getting into his drives seat opens his door and lets it swing right into my passenger door and then proceeds to leave it that way and out his backpack in his back seat door!!!! You read it right. This kid ALLOWED HIS DOOR TO SMACK INTO MY DOOR!!!!!!!! I was shocked. My mouth dropped and I told my friend Nicole to hold a moment. I proceeded to lean over and roll down the passenger window and say, " Really!? You just did that?"

Yeah he just looked at me and got into his car and said nothing!!!!! NOT ONE WORD!!!! You know just a sorry is all I would like. BUT NOTHING!!!! So I explained the ordeal to Nicole and stared the guy down. I decided before it happened again by this guy I would back out and move. So I did, however I also memorized and wrote his plates down that way I can leave him a nice note next time I see that car about proper manners in times like that. I may even check out Emily Post to see if there is a rule on situations like said event.

I forgive the dude totally as upon inspection today there is no mark left from his Maroon Buick.

On a side note to make last night worse I really wanted Annie's Shells and White Cheddar Mac n' Cheese with hot dogs cut into it (totally against my healthier eating habits). Yeah what is it that whenever I want turkey franks they are NEVER on sale, but when I don't even need them they are dirt cheap? Really??

On a happy note it's almost Halloween and I can't wait! Two days of events to be two different things! (more on this later)

Here Ye, The Sounds of Speed

While I just home from a run this early AM and waiting to use the shower I thought it would be a grand idea to share my running playlist and how well I am doing at this 5K prep.

With only 2 weeks from today I am on track. Tuesday of this week I RAN (no walk) with 2 others that are running the 5K with me a total of 2 miles. Wednesday I did (RAN) 2.1 by myself. That was hard as running with others turned out to be much easier, but I ran the whole thing.

Thursday was a booked day with work and a hysterical night that unless you were there I will never talk about, well except the point where I launched myself off my chair in the middle of 'Inception.' (Another post for another time.) But I will say it was my 3rd time seeing it so sleeping was inevitable.

Friday I was just too pooped to run. I knew I should have pushed myself but I didn't. I was given a complement at work though by one of the fellow co-workers who also is an avid runner with her boyfriend. She said you can totally tell I am running. It shows in my mid section. Now I'm no chubby buddy (as Kirstie Alley calls it) but I had developed a small attachment that I have been attempting to kill. I guess all this running is working better than the other stuff I did.

However today I got home and in bed at 2:30am. (It was my normal Friday of closing the bar and Ruby). I still managed to get up at 8:30 against better judgement and run at 9. As posted of Facebook I ran 2.2 miles today in 18:14 which averaged 8:42 a mile! Next week I kick it up to the full 3.1 miles.

This has been a week of serious thought! Several times I wanted to take the advice of a certain Gaga and "just dance." Heck I still might tonight :)

I'll start with the worst part, that was today.

My ward was officially dissolved :( It was our last Sunday. Dang Bishop Hurst even got me to have "eye leakage" problems. Former members were there amongst all us current un-married members. Wonderful talks but the end of an era. September makes 2 years since I returned home from my mission and I moved to St. George. A town where I have struggled and learned more about myself on a personal and friend level. If it wasn't for that ward I might have left this town in 2009 instead of later this year. I remember the first time they had me speak, which today talking to the Bishop on the side he too remembers. He said I had that funky color in my hair and my energy told him "activities" would be the place for me (this was January 2009). I finally went to my first FHE in March which is were I met the most amazing group of friends. June I was called into the activities committee as a co-chair where I have been until today when the ward was dissolved. I appreciate the places I have been taken in this position. I could go on much longer on this ward but I won't. I have a separate post that once I mellow out will be written on the whole singles change here in St. George.

I can say that in the meeting where we learned our new ward assignments I did not see one person from my now dissolved ward stand up. I am back in the place of learning about new people and making new friends. And let's be honest that is not a problem with me but I would like to just keep what I have. My cell phone book is already to full and it can't hold that many more numbers. :)

Saturday was a full day ranging from a meeting at the restaurant after only having 4 hours of sleep from a crazy first day back at work. Then fixed my brothers broken bike tires. (I hate fixing trick bikes!) We set up our wards final formal dinner, which was also my last event to hold with my committee. I thought I would be happy about it but I am now saddened that I will not do such things unless I am asked again. I freakn love party planning and throwing them!

Friday was hell at work towards the end but I made out like a bandit in tips. I love my regular customers but to the man who left .27 cents just know that I remember faces very well and will make your life interesting if you return, tell that girl who was with you the same thing, I know where she works and can make that hell too. :) (yup that is the waiter speaking.)

Thursday was my return home from a week of Reno

Monday-Wednesday became known to me as the time of changes inside. I learned more about who and what I really am.

Over all this past week I have done a lot of inner searching at to what I wanted. I booked a return flight to Reno, Nevada for October 19th-30th. I will begin my hunt for work and housing now but when I get there I will hopefully solidify the stepping stones. Reno I took advantage of growing up and am ever grateful for it's welcoming arms to allow me back despite my old hates of it. Funny what growing up does to a person.

I made some new friends this week that will hopefully become a great support in the coming months and hopefully year as I make transitions. The friends I currently have I am so grateful for all you have done AND will do. Thanks for supporting me, even if you live 380, 1,000+, or 2 miles away.

And I can't forget my family, who even though they may not read this blog, I still appreciate them more than ever.

It's always interesting to receive not so pleasant news. It's also interesting to receive not so pleasant news with a large group of people. There seems to be a heavy cloud that will set in and there is not a darn toot'n thing to be done about it. That dark cloud keeps us human. Keeps us sane to know that life is not a big bowl of sugar (even though Poppins tries to sell it that way).

Albeit that cloud will depart, enjoy the ride that comes in conjunction. It's not as horrible as news of cancer.

Put a Target on My Head and Call Me Sally

Well it's official. Despite many appeals Utah performed an execution just a few minutes ago by firing squad. In a report by Washington Post reporter Jennifer Dobner, "Ronnie Lee Gardner died was pronounced dead at 12:20am Friday." Yeah that was literally 40 minutes ago from the time I am writing this post. This was Utah's first execution by firing squad in 14 years.

Let the record show that I am here to say that I don't want to die with a target upon my chest.

YoU Ain't Kidding!

Hold the phone. I just learned Macy Grey, oh how I love her, has a new album out June, 22. I'm so excited and I seriously just can't hide it!

I noticed that a large amount of the blogs I follow have done a great deal of updating this week. And then there is mine and it has been a touch and go for some time now. I am pretty sure that I will have no reason other than clients that will keep me from updating this. The big blog-update-blockers would had to have been LOST and 24. Both of which ended in a twenty-four hour period.

LOST- AMAZING! There are many theories out there on the ending and it makes me laugh. It was pretty self answering and yet people still try and read into it. Like I told a friend on their blog, "Unless your name is JJ Abrams or one of the other head guys I won't believe your explanation on the ending." Each person has their own idea of the ending and not one is better than the other. The series was just the best. Well written and such. Even better it was announced that the complete series will be on a complete DVD/BluRay box set. EVEN BETTER than that it will retail on Amazon for $148.99! Yup I've already began coin collecting for this.

24- Jack was a great guy! I think we need a couple of him in our high profiled government fields. At least we know we wouldn't be getting ripped off by our leaders. He would always do the right even if it meant bending a few rules that dumb people put in so they could get away with corruption. Needless to say the series ender of 24 was fantastic. Chloe didn't let me down and neither did Jack. Oh and big news because I was Tweeting about the show as it was happening I was linked on a twitter trend grid. For those that don't tweet I can't even explain how awesome that was and again I can't even begin to explain what that is. You just had to be there.

Last Saturday I was asked to do photography at a Fabulous Sin City Roller Girls bout (game). It was Rockin AWESOME! I was the more close up back stage photog. Check later on my photography page as I will be posting some of them later tonight. I just loved the fact that I was asked to help with it!

Oh dang I gotta run, we are cleaning the church and helping a sister move in my singles ward. Till later.

*I did not proof this posting after it was completed. I wrote this over a few days so there might be some craze missing things. But I tried to keep it understandable.

Sit back and get ready for some scrolling action as you read up on the insane events I have been up to.

First off Motley Chromatic the 3rd died. :-( He got ill, and after doing a little reading and net research I found out that he was depressed and starved him self. Your probably saying yeah right. However I swear to you that Betta's get depressed if they go through stress. They also are very demanding little fish. I think it's little man syndrome but I wont tell them that to their gills, they might get depressed and show you. (really sick way to prove a point, suicide). I did buy another one the other day and he is out of control active. I would swear he was in training to do a Iron Fish triathlon.

Speaking of Ironman triathlon...

This last weekend St. George held/sponsored their first Ironman event. The city was set up with a 5 year contract. It was super exciting. I remember being introduced to the whole Ironman world when as a young boy we were watching Baywatch (yes it's true the family would watch that on Saturdays and Roseanne on Tuesdays, so what) and this one story was set around an Ironman. However it is much more exciting in real life. I volunteered at one of the bike stations. The area I was at had a controlled pilot car that other vehicles could follow. At one point two cars completely cut off the athletes in an attempt to turn on the road I worked. Well let's just say I still wouldn't let them through and they had to wait a bit. Most vehicles were nice and allowed me to direct them safely around the athletes. But man alive, rich, older, people sure think they run the place. (The street I was working was one of the entrances to a wealthier community.) I also had a guy that came to watch tell me I wasn't an official volunteer if I didn't have my shirt or badge to say so. Eventually my team captain Rachel showed and gave me my shirt but I can't believe how that guy was. There were several other things he did and said to me that were rude but we wont worry. Needless to say Ironman was AWESOME!! There was one guy who broke his collar bone on the bike area but still finished the WHOLE event. I managed to be at the finish line when he finally came through. Two other guys walked the rest of it with him. That's 26.2 miles walked!!! Inspiring.

So this is where I make my prediction and hope. I am giving myself two years to be ready for an Ironman. That is right, I want to compete in the 2012 St. George Ironman. I'll keep you posted along the way.

Now you may ask why not get ready for next year. Simple there is a high $$ entry fee and with me going to Nepal in late Oct/early Nov I can't afford both. Yup that is right!!!

I AM GOING TO NEPAL on a service trip!!! I have noticed on my facebook it appears that the general thought is I will be gone a month or more. I will actually only be gone a total of 2 weeks with the travel times. Not long at all but we will do great things there. The whole purpose of this trip is service and helping in the cure of poverty. Nepal is a very poverish country about no bigger than Illinois, but population wise I would guess Texas in one little country. I am super exited!! I begin fundraising now and all the money I raise is tax deductible. Yup I will be hitting up all my readers and many more for donations! (more on that at the start of the week.)

Along with Ironman I also took part in a 8hour photography workshop held by local destination wedding photographer Kevin Hulett. Yeah he is the guy I work with once a week in his office (I freakn love working with him, and his wife and him are so supportive of my photography it is so bodacious). The workshop consisted of great round table style discussion where he gave information but we were all free to talk and ask anything needed. It climaxed with a live model shoot. The models rocked it and were a blast to work with. In fact two of the five want to work with me in the near future! Yeah it sounds like bragging but deal with it I am stoked that people want to do another model shoot with me. Sometimes you never know if your product it actually great. As of this moment I think you are all caught up. I have MUCH more to inform and relay in regards to the Nepal fundraising and trip so please be aware of the poverty and community help that I will be part of and feel free to donate to help get me there.

I had a feeling on who the culprit was and it turns out I was right. Saturday I went to the Clark County Fair, in Logandale, NV. I went with my head bartender and hair cuttin lady Emily and her family.

I wont use this post to talk about the fair or post some photo's from it I will use an upcoming post for that.

As we were heading back to the cars somehow it came up on the subject of tampons and I said... "hey that reminds me someone put one of those of my car a few weeks ago." They burst out laughing and joked about how they decided that is they new calling card they will leave on peoples cars. However only those they like.

Case closed... It was Emily and Maggie her sister. Man I should be a Private Detective or something like that.

Joy's of Social Media

I guess you could call this the tell all explanation to the Facebook "relationship status" change featured on a certain Andrew Gawdun and Rachel Redman's pages Sunday. First off before the whole story we would both like to thank you for the kind thoughtful words that some of you left in excitement and encouragement. However to those of you that doubt that we could be a couple don't be jealous!

Now for the news. Rachel and I are NOT in a relationship. We are in a friendship but not a dating relationship. Last Friday we were both arriving at a friends wedding reception and our dear former Mission Presidents Wife, Sister Evanson thought we were in a relationship. Thus we move to Sunday morning before church. With the assistance of another Friend "Elissagator" we thought we would play with a few minds from the mission and change our Facebook status to "in a relationship." We intended to only mess with a few minds, however it was such a fun drug reading and seeing how many people Facebook monitor us. Don't take it personal, like I said we loved the positive feedback :-)

So we are NOT dating.

However let me get to the point of why we kept it going a few extra days and were so secretive to our friends and never commented back on your comments. Seriously this just goes to show you how out of control social media has become. It was amazing to see how many commented on changed statuses so quickly. For example there were comments left in less than 5 minutes! How many of us have our updates sent directly to our phones so that when we are away from our mac or pc can be up to date on the news? I am for one not exempt from this but have began the process of de-social-media-atising myself unless it will promote my photo biz or massively important info. There are things that will never go on Facebook or other outlets like such. Rachel and I both agree that we will never post personal information like relationship info you will get the info directly from us when we are in our own perspective relationships if they were to change into anything more than dating.

Another concept that we should think about is how much do we really know our friends anymore? We see pictures and updates but don't personally interact with them as much anymore. Now while we can use social media for positive things we have gotten to far out of hand. Every phone has a built in app for such said sites anymore, not to mention the ones you can download.

Just some food for thought.

C'est Super Cool!

And the news you want on Paris.

So as most of you know I assist a local photographer once in a while here in town on different projects. I have learned a LOT when it comes to the things he is doing at each event I have been on. Well last Tuesday I was informed by two people that I may have a good photo chance with them. While I was getting ready for work I also got a text from the photographer that said... "Paris, 23, interested?"

I noticed the text on my way to work so I text him back with only one word... "What?"

I was unsure what he meant so I made it to work and was asking around if there was a Paris, UT thinking that is what he meant. I heard back from him and he needs an assistant on a wedding shoot in Paris, France from the 21-24 of January. YEAH!!!! I KNOW!!!!! EXCITING!!!! I was so super excited that he would ask me to help on it. I text him back that I would need to look at some things and I would get back to him. I would have to pay my way (almost $2,000) but the big kicker that got me made me turn it down was the fact that I don't own a passport yet. Funny how back in December I felt that I need to get one as soon as possible this year. So right after work I went and got the paper work to apply for mine.

I wont lie I am super sad I had to turn this down but I told him that on the next help he needs with a trip shoot to let me know and I should be able to go as I should have my passport by then.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY LIKE THIS BEFORE, This year has been turning out on the most part to be sooooooooo smashing,.. minus a little glitch I experienced towards the end of last week. (if you want the details you have to call me for them, they wont be posted).

But I must trickle down the road I just got off Skype with a friend in Reno who I haven't spoken to in a few months and I am beat so bed time it is.

It Happened This Week

Well instead of a wrap up in pictures from this week I thought I would post the most ridiculous news stories this week...

1. "Balloon Boy" - Need I say more on how ridiculous this has become. Yeah I was fearful that there was a boy trapped in the UFO shaped balloon as we watched the news unfold live on TV. However once it all finished and then we find out he was in the attic it got lame. Then the boy tell us live on Larry King to his parents that "we did it for the show." What a circus it became. The latest was tonight and finding out there will be charges made to the father but the details were not spoken yet.

2. A Justice of the Peace in Louisiana this week refused to marry an interracial couple.- All I have to say is, no wonder we will never truly leave the debate of racism and red-necks.
"It's kind of hard to apologize for something that you really and truly feel down in your heart you haven't done wrong," Keith Bardwell told CNN affiliate WAFB on Saturday.
This guy makes me sick and I agree he needs to step down!

3. Fat Barbie?- Yes this was in the news this week, French shoe designer Christian Louboutin made the comment that Barbie's classic figure was not very flattering and that she has fat ankles. BWAHAHAHAHAA. They to begin with are only 55mm in size. How is that fat? But once again this is a french man who said this...need I say more?

These are the 3 top "Are You Kidding Me" that I feel we need to discuss. Talk amongst yourselves I have given you 3 topics. I would love to hear what you all are thinking regarding this so don't be shy post a comment.

And on a movie review note 'Whatever Happened to Baby Jane,' starring Joan Crawford and Betty Davis is simply INSANE!!! I'll tell you what these 1960's movies are down right crazy too! In our time of movies it's all about the blood and guts but we really don't need it for a movie to be a spook ride.

This week was the beginning of a very busy month for me. I was an assistant to an AMAZING local photographer that travels around the world for weddings (we did alot of his office catch up work and believe it or not I learned A WHOLE LOT!) Then we had the ward yard sale to benefit Primary Children's Hospital which covers medical bills and families that are there. Pennies by the Inch is the charity you should check it out. We managed to raise a little over $700! And then I made 2 trips to Vegas this week. One was to support a friend who is joining the local roller derby team, www.sincityrollergirls.com, we will be making trips ever Wednesday to attend and support Nicole in this adventure. The other was to hang out and support a friend who just moved there from here. Let's just say between getting off of work Friday at 1:30am Saturday and then waking up and starting the yard sale @ 6:00AM and then the trip to Vegas right after and arriving home at 3:30AM Sunday I am pooped. (man alive I used alot of 'ands' in that last line)

I have been on the looks for a new suit and I found the one I want to purchase. If only I could come up with roughly $350 before the fall line leaves stores

Remember these pony tail holders ladies? We came across one of them at the yard sale. Mallory ended up leaving with it.


I bought Emily my coworker/hair-cuttin lady a 'Texas Doughnut' in thanks for covering my shift Thursday so I could assist the local photographer


At least she wasn't pointing at the crack that is a plus

To Boldly Go!

First off this was the best General Conference I have seen so far in my life time. Maybe it had alot to do with the fact that I was actually coherent for a good 4 out of 5 sessions. Either way the talks were great! I also would say this is the best Conference season with the best Priesthood Session so far as well.

I managed to have a grand weekend and heck there are actually pictures to show for it!..

First off I went with a friend to see the directorial debut of Drew Barrymore, in the movie WHIP IT! SHE IS A GENIUS not to mention a total babe-a-rino.



All I can say is GO SEE IT! NOW! In fact drop what you are doing, unless you are holding a baby then take it with you, and go buy a ticket to it. I have a new found loved sport to watch and yes it is girls on skates. If only I could get the SONIC girls to derby it up when they bring my slushes.

Instead of hanging with mission buds (it turns out that several people from my ward were going to Salt Lake for reunions and I could have car pooled) I went and played games and ate root beer floats with friends. OHHH but earlier Friday I caught the double feature of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3D, it should have been 3D all along! I had to blow up 100 balloons for a photo installment/project I am working on. Plus we were gonna put them under saran wrap on a friends car that was moving early Saturday AM. But by the time we finished playing this board game called QUELF, 2AM, we backed out.


Warren enjoyed the balloon attention ALOT. Rather amusing!


At one point in this bizarre board game of QUELF i had to continue playing the game with no hands and arms. It came to a point where I wanted a piece of gum, well Warren had to feed it too me. Not gonna lie, that was weird! I also had to have this piece of paper on my head that had a drawing of something from a medicine cabinant for the whole game. This game last 2.5 hours.

We have also had this AMAZING full moon weekend and it just screamed at me to take photos of it. So I did...





We took some family photo's with this same style of work tonight but I am too tired to upload and processes them. So till then enjoy the above. Which has also led me to another idea of portrait and engagement shots. Keep an eye out in the future.

Whelp Sunday (today) finished off nicely. Went to the neighbors house, a friend of the family, for lunch between conference sessions and ended up watching the last session and the LDS movie about Sister Missionaries, 'Errand of Angels.'
