Part 3

Well we got to our 3rd stop this afternoon and I thought it would be right to fill in what mother and I have been doing since Saturday. Well for one I was in Tifton and for those that know about Tifton know that saying "you were in Tifton" means a whole lot. Tifton is a great place and I love it. Here is what went down...

On the way out of Waycross there is this billboard. Guess the family, that is right The Moore Family

The Rubersons: (left to right) Jonathan, Ethan (neighbor friend but practically family) Mary-Lou, and John.

Sister Susan Tucker, we stayed at her place in Tifton

Susan's cat that was "all over me"

Susan's dog, Lacy. Very quiet dog

The next few pictures are from Andersonville War Camp. I have tons of photos from this place but here are my favorite ones. It was so wild being at an actual location from the Civil War. Even more so that this was once a P.O.W. camp.

This is an actual caved in tunnel the Union Soldiers tried digging to escape Andersonville

"The Deadline." If I'm not mistaken the line between the wall and the small fence was the area that if you even put your hand past the fence the orders were to shoot to kill.

More angles of the "Deadline"

These cannons were angled to shoot at Andersonville in case of uproar, attempted escape, etc.

If I'm not mistaken this is where the Confederate Army would bring in new Union Prisoners. Kinda like the "last signs of humanity and welcome to Hell of Earth."

Providence Springs: During one day a bolt of lightening shot a spot in the camp up hill and this fresh water spring sprung up from it. My bets a miracle from God.

The bonnet from Mary Surratt. She was the first woman executed and hung. She was executed as a conspirator to President Lincoln's assassination.

In the P.O.W. Museum there is an exhibit called, "Capture." A video would play and it was set up so you walked in the dark from a bright room and your eyes were not used to the dark. Well the lights would flash and you would be looking at a wall covered in guns. No matter where you stood you had one pointing to you. It was very eerie. I have a better shot but I thought this one turned out the best, kinda scattered brained like.
An example of what digging tunnels in Andersonville looked like. Most the time they caved in or people would rat them out to the Confederates.

Andersonville Cemetary, just a glimps.

One of the Statues to remember the fallen soldiers in Andersonville, and other times of war. Most of the statues were dedicated to unknown soldiers.

Just a long road shot

Abandoned building, man these places have the best locations for photo shoots.

The Best people in Tifton. (From left to right back of me) Sammy Vickers, Helen Vickers, Donald Seaman, Nancy Seaman, Mom, Nathan Vickers, and Ryan Vickers. (Front Row) Me and Matt Seaman.
Just watching the volleyball game from the sidelines.

Nancy driving the grandchildren around the volleyball game.

Founder of Tifton's grave site.

We ate here in Tifton and had a Slaw Dog, Hard style french fries, and an ice cream cone

Head stone in Tifton

This building is reported to be built on top of a old, old "black cemetary." No business has been able to stay open.

More Tifton cemetery stuff

Cemetery Stuff

"Pinky" Durham, check him out via google. Great history

"Pinky's" grave

Can I just tell you who the best bishop is ever? You looking at him, former Bishop Flanders and his classy wife Sister Flanders, rockin awesome couple.

Sister Hebbard, "crazy cat lady from down the hill." That was her self given name.

Just a house in Tifton

The Nixons: Terry and Rudine Nixon

Fast becoming one of my favorite pictures ever taken

The Bohannons: (Left to Right) Jr, mom, Mike, J.A.B. (small child on Mike's lap), Donna, and Robert (Donna's brother).

Jr and J.A.B.

Well that is it for now. I have to get running we are heading out to the Pooler/Savannah area in a couple hours. I have tons more pictures but will putting up a slide show when I return. I have also managed to gather information in Tifton and Waycross regarding places of residence and the potential to have my photography work stationed out of South Georgia, but more on that later. Gotta run.
