Part 4 of Sin City (for real)

Yeah I know I have been gone for a long time, but life could not get anymore busier. Yeah that is a lie. Once I get past December 19th it will slow down.

Anyways last time I left you faithful readers I had been working on some videos that I took on my phone and mixing music to them. Yeah that was a big flop. So the videos you are about to see I will set the tone and give a small background on them.

That Saturday night when I was last in Vegas for Nicole's birthday after we went roller skating we hooked up with some people we met the night before at the casino; Boulder Station. There was this classic rock cover band named Yellow Brick Road. (How original, I know.) They were actually not to bad. However I think the best part of the show was watching all the adults (the ones older than I. For once I was at a concert where I was once again one of the younger people and not the older crowd). I wont spoil it for you but there was a lady (you'll have to look real close in a few videos) that appeared to have 2 or more pigs fighting under her dress. It didn't help much when her husband took her scarf and did that awkward shimmy thing to her bum. I still shudder. Also there is a lady with a fanny pack that I am sure was straight off the Janis Joplin train. (There may have been some drug use.)

Fighting Gold Dress in the Middle

Yup they were dancing to some Queen

Once the lights come back on you will find the fanny pack lady dancing and praising the Pink Floyd that the band played. By far I think she was the best! Towards the end she raises her arms like she is having a religious movement.

Well that is how we ended our Weekend in Vegas. After Nicole not finding her wallet we still managed to have a rocking good birthday weekend for her.

You never know what I will catch with my camera and what will be posted so come back for more.

Part 4 of Sin City Under Construction

Here is the deal for the next post in this Vegas series. I am just posting mainly video's that I shot with my phone. However I am having technical difficulties and I am trying to work them out. Right now there is no sound to the video when I uploaded it and to add flavor and spice that Top Chef would approve of I am dubbing other music to it. However if you can hold on tight I promise come what may you will enjoy it....

Part 3 of Sin City

Due to the lack of money Nicole was experiencing we decided to make dinner in that night and with Annie being completely sick it was just Nicole and I we didn't want to eat out. We made Chicken Parm Pasta. It was tasty. But let's skip the minor info on this blog and talk about the real info y'all are here for... ROLLER RINK INSIGHT!!!

Nicole desired to go roller skating so she could practice her Derby skills (yes we still go every Wednesday night) and of course I was much willing. So in my minds eye I don't expect it to be a very busy and popular, boy was I WRONG! There were people everywhere! (however these pictures are from later in the night when it was starting to thin out)

I would like take the next paragraph to describe the look at the roller rink. So we get there and it was like stepping into a time warp. I mean seriously "let's do the time warp agaaaaiinnn." There were at least 3 side ponytails, 6 tutu's, 1 complete goth look, one tribute to Michael Jackson complete with sequined glove, off the shoulder jumbo sweater, and 12+ pairs of super skinny jeans on guys. One pair at least as we could find were easily true as the judge is my witness girl pants. But man alive the whole night it appeared to be a tribute to the 80's. Oh and let us not forget the trashy look on some people like our friend from the photo below...

She surely dressed up that night. And let us not forget her twin from another mother.

But man alive there where little kids skating better than I did. Granted let us not forget it has been since I was a freshman in High School that I skated. Heck there were people skating while texting, which I think we need to add that to the list of dangers while texting. There was this one little boy who was probably around the age of 3 who was going along the wall. I wanted to get a shot of him but I was not brave enough to attempt to shoot photo's while skating.

I just cant describe to you enough though on the attire of the people there it was AMAZINGLY retro. I felt that I was extremely under dressed compared to the rest. Heck let's share with you the look I had...

But who cares if I was under dressed I was not about to put on some skinny jeans at any point, or even bust out a tutu.

With any note it was alot of fun and brought much joy to a fun filled day. Plus I can't wait to go again. Maybe next time I am in Vegas I will go again, any takers to join in?

And let's be honest it led into the next adventure that I will post next that will include video proof of older people dancing at a cover bands show.

Part 2 of Sin City

Saturday was an early day. One of the other big reasons to be in Vegas (besides a friends Birthday) was the Art Institute of Las Vegas was holding an Open House. With me running and starting my own photo business I do recognize the places where I can grow and increase my photography knowledge and business skills. So i thought heck why not check out the college.

Here we are the two of us (Nicole decided to not attend with us, but then again if I had lost my wallet not even 12 hours before I would not want to do a thing either) getting to the college at 9am. Last year when I began to toy with the idea of this school I was quickly turned off from the idea when they would call me every week and if not every other day to talk to me about applying, so yes I was very cautious arriving there. After checking in Annie and I are sitting there eating out danishes and apple juice when up comes miss "administration I'm gonna shove this college down your throat." However she was very rude towards me. She simply asked who is my advisor and then blew me off and tried to convince Annie that she needs to attend this school. This is not a cheap school and it has taken me some time to understand that for education it is ok to go into a little debt in order to better yourself. Annie admits that she is not there herself just yet. So here we have Admin lady telling Annie that all girls will see a dress in the window and if they want it they will do WHATEVER they want and can to get it. She pretty much informed us that charging it and going into to debt for it was a great thing. (AND NOW THERE IS PROOF THAT SHOWS WHY AND HOW OUR COUNTRY GOT INTO THIS ECONOMIC STRUGGLE.) The best part was when Annie asked then to have a rough estimate of what it would cost her and Admin Lady told her she couldn't tell her till she applied. Annie laughed in her face and said that is why she wont do it. Another Admin Lady, who was much nicer, interrupted us and it saved our life.

We ended up getting stuck in the tour group that the mean Admin lady was leading although we hung out towards the back and did our own looking. I wasn't really feeling the whole school attending thing until we reached... the studio where PHOTO MAGIC HAPPENS. Now mind you this is only a digital photography program so it was the studio set up for a current students upcoming shoot. I WANTED TO STAY. Nobody else in my tour was there for photography and I choked when the instructor in the room asked if I had any questions. I was like a little kid on their first trip to Toys-r-Us. But then once we left all the questions I had came back but it was too late. DANG YOU BRAIN!! DANGGGG YYOOOUUUUU!

The open forum discussion and out lay of the programs had much info along with this one teacher who had the whole Butt in Front jeans look going on (B.I.F. for short). She was a hoot and not in a good way as she had all sorts of things to say for everything under the sun. She wouldn't shut up long enough for the other teachers to speak about their own programs. Annie and I loved every moment of it.

So in the long run it appears that I will be applying for the May area semester. This program I could go on for days about the awesomeness but let me tell you that if I truly want to get into the mainstream model/magazine photography this school will get me there quicker than my own two hands will. If anything I have learned from several people that this school has an amazing connection to contacts. So there will be my best networking chances. I will keep everyone posted on the updates as I prepare for this school

Part 1 of Sin City

As you may have noticed from the subject this is only Part 1 in a series of blog postings that will happen nightly until I have shared the adventures from this last weekend. Too much went on that I can skip. There were dancing grownups (I'm still laughing every time I review the video's I took which I will post for you to see,) art college instructors with extreme B.I.F. issues (Butt In Front) and much more.

To start off this recap we began Friday by heading to a Las Vegas Wranglers game. It was my first Hockey game and I am now ready for another helping of sticks and ice! It was a grand time. There just needed to be more violence! I wanted to see blood and ref's breaking up fights.

But alas it was a rather clean game. Vegas won the game and all was good. During the game Annie invited us to play a game called, "Spot the Most Mullets." Well let's just say I won by spotting the only mullet we could find...

I also spotted this girl after Vegas made their first point. She was jumping up and down and shouting. However let us not forget that she too managed to start crying like it was the most exciting thing she had ever witnessed, it was great!

Nicole managed to find a guy to crush on and find to be in my words for her "man of her caliber." Don't tell her I called it that. LOL Here is a pic of them sitting together during the last period of the game. Oh and she only started talking to him after Annie went and told him she "digged" him and he came up to sit by Nicole as a birthday gift.

So we left for this Irish Pub and the guys came with us. So instead of it being Nicole's brother and his girl friend, Nicole, Annie and myself you add in the mix Mike, and Brad. The Irish pub was alot of fun and tasty. However I had to discontinue my use of their ketchup as it smelled and tasted as though the Heinz Company supplies them with Beer laced ketchup. In my defence I only sampled it twice and had someone else try it just to make sure. I still can't believe it. Also I managed to sneak a picture of Nicole and the guy Brad. (On a side note he was way chill and would be perfect for her, to bad he lived in Chico Hills, CA)

So we get ready to leave and the turn changing event that led up to plan changes for the weekend stuck us. Nicole couldn't find her wallet. We searched all over, going back to the casino, searching lost and found, speaking to security that night and Saturday morning and also re-searching the Irish Pub. But to no luck she lost it all. Credit cards, debit card, SOCIAL SECURITY, and all the left over cash from her two week vacation. It was a bummer. BUT it did not ruin the trip. I have many more adventures to share and will be back tomorrow to share the next one involving the Art Institute Open House and Nicole dressing me fancy like.

Till later...

Can't Get Enough Of Your Love of the Money

As most of, you, my faithful readers know I have this thing where I don't go to sleep till around 2am. With this I end up catching some of the most awesome, and by awesome I mean ridiculous, infomercials. Well I once reported on a , Neckline Slimmer. I am here to tell you that with my mom working in a bank she met a guy who was having some withdraw issues from his account and upon her coworker looking into his account she noticed something called the..."neckline slim..." Of course my moms co worker asked the guy if it worked and busted out laughing at the customer. She tried hard to not but couldn't resist my mom said. Anyway here are some ones that I found that are making me laugh. So sit back and do the Hawaii (you'll get this reference after you watch the one video)

gotta love dynamic inertia. LOL
...now here is the guy version

...and to end it off tonight I will show you one last video and then the follow up version that Ellen had on her show.

"I feel my abs working." BWahahahahahahahah
...now Ellen's demo of it

I'm sure I will see some more by next month that will make it to a posting

Movie to be Excited Over

Here is yet another movie that I am pumped to see... especially after missing it at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

And believe it or not but I have good word that it will show up here in small town mentality St. George.
