State of My Union

"I never said change would be easy. When you try to do big things and make changes it stirs passions and controversy..."
-President Barack Obama

You may or may not support him. You may or may not like him but either way he is our elected official.

There have been many a things that were spoken of when he was running for office that I have yet to see work out the way he thought they will/would. What is my point to this? Simple...

Democrats and Republicans need to both grow up, run this country together. This is time when the world is watching. Think about the power we will show if we could get along in our high courts towards other countries? We are a joke to many lands due to this issue. We have so much to offer each other here and the fact that we can't get along proves what other people say about us. Now I may or may not be a democrat (that is up to you to guess) but you best believe that I will support any thing that our elected officials present if it be right. Wait that is just like something we LDS members know in our faith, funny. ("...and if it be right I will cause a burning in your bosom..." )

Whelp that is all for now, I think I have gotten my opinion across for now...

When It RAINS Derby

Being a friend of someone trying to join the local roller derby team has it's perks. For one since the local and closest team is in Vegas we travel a lot to and from the lovely city. (On a side note I LOVE Las Vegas, not just because it's in my home state it is more than that and very hard to explain.) So besides Derby Bouts, and practices they also have an event called, Down and Derby. I'm not sure how they manage it but the RAIN nightclub inside the young, trendy and famous Palms resort and casino holds this event and it is a party! They have skate rentals and of course if you want part of it you can drink and party from 10pm-4am. Don't worry I did not partake of the drinking part of things but you better believe this blogger and friend rented some skates and jammed it out on the dance floor.

First off the costumes and get ups we all wore were classic. Here is Nicole and I (the actual person joining the team) in our clothes of choice.

Rocking right? Well we got to RAIN and had to sign a waiver just in case we injured ourselves saying that The Palms would not be responsible. After getting past the 6 bouncers we made our way into RAIN. Upon entry you have to walk through this tube of red lights being reflected off this metallic, reflective siding. I'll save you from too much info as yes I do have photos AND videos. But can I just tell you that I can't wait for the next Down and Derby! It was sooo much fun.

-On the ceiling they have this light set and accessory beam that besides lights dissperses fog, snow AND FIRE!!!!!

Talk about how you could feel the heat from above. It was great when they played the classic disco hits that shouted "fire" in them.

I wasn't able to take my good camera in as I didn't have a press pass but I am going to see what I can do about it for the near future. So all I could shoot with was my phone.

And here you go with some videos. Most of these involve the breakn dances going on in the middle of the dance floor. The craziest part is all the trick dancers were wearing skates and they were off the chain AMAZING!!!

I saw this shot going into The Palms but waited till I left to get it. (That is usually a bad move with great shots but it worked out this time)

I'm not sure what the adventures are to come in the next week but I will keep you posted. By the way, any of you that are in the area for my "Golden Birthday" (26 on the 26th of Feb) we are planning on hitting up RAIN and a pre dinner at this Persian Diner I found in Vegas.

When Mormons Dance

'Don't Throw Me Away'
-The Mumlers

A few people in real life (the opposite of web life) have asked me when I would post these jewels we call video joy. My singles region held a New Years Eve dance on 12/31/2009. A few of us decided to support our region and make an appearance. Before I could even get there I received 2 text messages from Susie and Karyn as to the importance of us to show up. (It was a hoot to be seen). When we first got there the dance floor was dry minus the man you will see in a video. I noticed in the other half of the location they had this set up... (On a side note I have a co worker who attended the dance and said they got lost in the bounce house. Yeah I'm not sure how that happens)

I'm still laughing that they had a bounce house.

Now the videos that I am going to share with you will include a girl in pink that goes on the floor and dances by the insane people. That is Susie, she was the one who would direct my camera attention to those that were worthy of filming. It also made it easy to film when people thought I was taking pictures of her on the dance floor, along with my other people. I mean these people had no clue I was really filming them. Enough of me talking why not just sit back and enjoy the videos!

Here comes Susie again and she shows us the jewels!

Susie decides to show us her interpretive dance

Seriously though why is it that EVERY song that played there had to be a line dance? Let's not forget the guy with the long sleeved white shirt, he just wanted to lead all the dances. (i think his true calling may be teaching a Zumba class)

Lastly I present to you, BOB. Bob is an interesting case. He currently attends my ward and although I myself am a strange individual he is strange to the 10th power.

I truly hope you all enjoyed your viewing as I know I did. And the best part is there is another dance Feb 8th so this means that I will be loaded with my camera (I am so glad phones can do what they do). However if any of you out there run into glasses that have a micro camera built into them or a micro camera I can attach to my current eye wear please let me know!

C'est Super Cool!

And the news you want on Paris.

So as most of you know I assist a local photographer once in a while here in town on different projects. I have learned a LOT when it comes to the things he is doing at each event I have been on. Well last Tuesday I was informed by two people that I may have a good photo chance with them. While I was getting ready for work I also got a text from the photographer that said... "Paris, 23, interested?"

I noticed the text on my way to work so I text him back with only one word... "What?"

I was unsure what he meant so I made it to work and was asking around if there was a Paris, UT thinking that is what he meant. I heard back from him and he needs an assistant on a wedding shoot in Paris, France from the 21-24 of January. YEAH!!!! I KNOW!!!!! EXCITING!!!! I was so super excited that he would ask me to help on it. I text him back that I would need to look at some things and I would get back to him. I would have to pay my way (almost $2,000) but the big kicker that got me made me turn it down was the fact that I don't own a passport yet. Funny how back in December I felt that I need to get one as soon as possible this year. So right after work I went and got the paper work to apply for mine.

I wont lie I am super sad I had to turn this down but I told him that on the next help he needs with a trip shoot to let me know and I should be able to go as I should have my passport by then.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY LIKE THIS BEFORE, This year has been turning out on the most part to be sooooooooo smashing,.. minus a little glitch I experienced towards the end of last week. (if you want the details you have to call me for them, they wont be posted).

But I must trickle down the road I just got off Skype with a friend in Reno who I haven't spoken to in a few months and I am beat so bed time it is.

20K and the First Post

'They'
-JEM
(Let 2010 playlist begin!)

I have HUGE news to spill regarding Paris, France but until I have more time, which should be later tonight. I am going to post some other VERY EXCITING NEWS!!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE POLAROID the camera maker. However I am not very happy that my instant camera is no longer useable as they discontinued the Instant Film back in 2006/2007. However you mix Lady Gaga (yes I love her) with Polaroid and you will have magic... I am PUMPED for the later part of this year to see what happens.

CREATIVE GENIUS IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN!
